Pre Care

On the day of the consultation, wash your face thoroughly with antibacterial soap and do not apply foundation or other makeup to the area which is being treated. If you hope to have injections performed on the day of your consult, please refrain from using alcohol, Aspirin, vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3’s, Ginseng, Garlic, Gingko, or any anti-inflammatory medication for at least 2 days prior to your treatment (unless they have been prescribed by your physician). Although we often treat on the first appointment, we may not be able to do so, based on your consultation results.

Neuromodulator Post Care

The neuromodulator will work its way into the nerves in the treated areas and you will begin to feel and see some changes in about 3 days. The full effect will be apparent after 2 weeks. Our goal is to produce a more rested, smooth, younger version of you while maintaining your ability to express yourself fully.

After treatment, you may experience swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. This will typically last for a couple of hours. The use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) is permitted. Additionally, although rare, red or swollen small bumps may occur for 2-3 days.

  • If needed, you may apply make-up after 6 hours of treatment, using very minimal pressure on your skin.

  • For 1 Hour: Exercise the areas that were treated (eg. Practice frowning, raising your eyebrows)

  • For 3 Hours: Remain upright, do not rub the treated areas.

  • 24 Hours: Refrain from strenuous physical activity, hot tub, sauna, facials, alcohol or

    aspirin.

A follow up assessment at the 2 week mark can be done virtually, or in person, especially if it's your first treatment. This will ensure that we are able to see how your facial muscles react to your treatment. For medical reasons, your results will be photographed and documented in your confidential patient file. Neuromodulators are a temporary procedure and at first you may find that your treatment results will last approximately 3-4 months.

Filler Post Care

Hyaluronic acid dermal filler has been placed carefully in the appropriate position to promote a personal visage of youth and good health. A local anesthetic containing lidocaine may have been used on the surface of the skin or by injection. After treatment, you may experience swelling, redness, pain, itching, discolouration and tenderness at the site of treatment. This will typically last for less than a week. The use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) is permitted. If the lips were injected, the swelling may be more significant. Arnica gel can be helpful to minimize redness and swelling. In rare circumstances, a blood vessel may have inadvertently been injected which may cause skin breakdown.

  • Be aware that you must guard against infection by keeping the skin clean, especially in the first 48 hours.

  • You may apply only a small amount of makeup after 6 hours, but do so gently.

  • Avoid excessive rubbing or manipulation of the skin.

  • Aspirin, alcohol and heavy exercise is permitted after 24 hours. The gel is quite movable

for the first few days — do not press on the treated area. Try to sleep on your back.

  • For at least 2 weeks after treatment, avoid prolonged exposure to either hot (eg. hot

tubs) or cold (eg. skiing) temperatures and prolonged direct sun exposure.

Please report any redness and/or visible swelling that persists for more than 1 week or any other symptoms that cause concern. It is normal to feel the sensation of newly placed filler. This feeling may last a few days to several weeks. A virtual or in person follow up may be scheduled 2 weeks after treatment in order to repeat your personal photos and assess the outcome of the injections. Additional injections may be undertaken at an additional fee. Over the course of the next few weeks, the filler will settle into position and absorb water, improving the initial effect. Fillers usually last for 6-18 months depending on the area treated and the total number of syringes used.
